Una BSO para recordar #3: Shingeki no Kyojin

Hoy me apetecía traeros una nueva entrada de bandas sonoras para recordar, y aquí la tenéis.

En esta ocasión vengo con Shingeki no Kyojin, anime que he visto hace poco y me ha gustado mucho. La primera temporada del anime concluyó en 2013 y la segunda está proyectada para 2016 para así poder dar tiempo a la historia del manga a avanzar y tener más contenido que adaptar. Si os gusta el anime creo que deberíais darle una oportunidad. Además los openings son muy épicos.

¡Hola, grumetillos! He estado desaparecida durante casi todo enero por culpa de los exámenes, pero he salido sana y salva de este terrible périplo. ¡Sigo viva! Y para celebrarlo os traigo una canción acorde con la situación, Stayin' Alive. Y ya paro con la coña.

Canción del día #16: Billy Boyd en la BSO de El Hobbit

Después de emocionarnos con Edge of night, Billy Boyd (aka Pippin) vuelve a la Tierra Media, en esta ocasión poniendo la canción de los créditos para El Hobbit: La batalla de los cinco ejércitos. Mucha gente se sorprende al enterarse de que Billy Boyd canta, pero lo cierto es que compagina la música con la actuación. Tiene un grupo llamado Beecake (del que ya os hablé por aquí) que, aunque no es muy conocido, ya ha realizado algunas giras por UK y Estados Unidos.

Y visto que hoy estrenan El Hobbit en los cines de medio mundo, ¿qué mejor momento para poneros la canción?

Dando tumbos por internet una gente se encuentra cosas la mar de curiosas. En esta ocasión vengo con un musical francés llamado Mozart l'Opéra Rock. En esta obra hacen un popurri de la música de Mozart con música rock para contar la historia de Mozart a través de las canciones. No he visto ningún vídeo del musical en sí, pero algunas de las canciones están en Youtube como si fueran un videoclip en este canal.

Una BSO para recordar #2: La princesa Mononoke

Supongo que por aquí todos conocemos Studio Ghibli, ¿no? Ese estudio de animación japonés creado en 1985 por Hayao Miyazaki y Isao Takahata. Hace poco fue noticia porque Hayao Miyazaki se jubió, dejando la dirección del estudio a otros miembros del equipo. Una de las últimas películas que ha estrenado es El viento se levanta, que compitió con Frozen en los últimos Oscar por la preciada estatuilla.

Sin embargo, hoy os traigo la BSO de una de las películas más conocidas de Ghibli, La princesa Mononoke (Mononoke Hime), literalmente La princesa de los espíritus vengativos, estrenada en 1997. No quiero hablar demasiado de la película, porque creo que es bastante conocida y si no la habéis visto deberíais aunque sólo sea para babear con la animación. La banda sonora fue compuesta por Joe Hiraishi, como la inmensa mayoría de la bandas sonoras de Ghibli. Así que nada, a escuchar.

Canción del día #14: Sonata Arctica

Ya era hora de que os hablara de uno de mis grupos favoritos de todos los tiempos, Sonata Arctica. Es un grupo de power metal finés fundada en 1995 que en un principio se llamó Tricky Beans y después Tricky Means. Ya fue en 1999 cuando cambiaron a Sonata Arctica (¡aleluya!). Ha tenido influencias de grupos tan famosos como Stratovarius o Helloween e incluso se llegó a decir que era el nuevo Stratovarius de su generación, el nuevo estandarte del power metal. Y parecía que iba a ser así, pero desde hace un par de discos para acá se ha desinflado y ha tomado unos caminos un tanto flojos.

Pero digamos que yo a Sonata Arctica le perdono lo que sea. Incluso en sus últimos discos, se deja ver la calidad que les llevó a tener la fama y el reconocimiento que tienen. Así que quiero compartir este gran grupo con vosotros. Seguramente no sea la única vez que lo meta en esta sección, porque tiene una gran cantidad de canciones que me gustan.

En esta ocasión vengo con una canción de su último disco, Pariah's Child, que salió este mismo año. La canción se titula What did you do in the war, Dad? y no tiene mucho misterio si leéis la letra. Pero me ha parecido muy bonita y emotiva, así que aquí está.

Una BSO para recordar #1: Gladiator

He decidido crear una pequeña sección dedicada enteramente a poner bandas sonoras de películas, series, videojuegos, etc, las conocidas como BSO o OST en inglés. Yo suelo escuchar muchísimas BSO y me apetece compartirlo con vosotros.

En esta ocasión os traigo Am I Not Merciful de la BSO de Gladiator. Cuando pensamos en la BSO de esta película nos viene a la mente este tema, el del anuncio de los Ferrero Rocher, pero creo que Gladiator tiene muy buenos temas como para sólo fijarnos en ese.

La BSO fue compuesta por Hans Zimmer y Lisa Gerrard. En un principio Zimmer la iba a realizar junto a Ofra Haza, pero no pudo ser debido a su muerte. Estuvo nominada a los Oscars y se ha convertido en una de las BSO más conocidas del mundo del cine. Sin embargo, hubo algunas piezas por las que Hans Zimmer fue acusado de haberse inspirado de otras o por las que directamente le denunciaron por plagio.

En fin, espero que la disfrutéis.

Canción del día #12: Matthew & The Atlas

Matthew & The Atlas es un grupo de esos que descubres de pura casualidad mientras das botes por la red. No he escuchado mucho de ellos, sólo algunas canciones en Youtube, pero las hay que están muy bien.

Canción del día #11: Sabaton

Hoy es 6 de junio y se conmemora el 70 aniversario del desembarco de Normandía allá por 1944. Ya sabéis, el día D a la hora H. Por eso os traigo Primo Victoria, una canción del grupo de power metal sueco Sabaton que trata precisamente sobre este hecho histórico.

La verdad es que este grupo lo descubrí hace poco. No sé cómo acabé en un montaje que habían hecho de un documental sobre un rey sueco al que le había puesto una canción de este grupo.

Canción del día #10: Nightwish

Se acercan los exámenes, así que estaré durante un tiempo ausente por estos lares. ¡El que avisa no es traidor!

Pero antes os traigo una de mis canciones preferidas desde hace mucho tiempo: While your lips are still red, de Nightwish. Es una canción que formó parte de la banda sonora de una película finesa llamada Lieksa (que a su vez toma nombre de una ciudad finesa a la que se dirigen los protagonistas) que, si os soy sincera, me pareció la cosa más rara del mundo. Eso sumado a que los subtítulos del finés al español estaban traducidos por el Google Translator y decían cosas como que había que llevarse al hipopótamo atado con la cuerda no me ayudaron a sentirme del todo a gusto viendo la peli.

Los que aparecen en la canción (aparte de los actores de la película) son Marco Hietala y Tuomas Holopainen, ambos componentes de Nightwish.

Al margen de la película, tengo que decir que esta canción me parece preciosa. Espero que os guste.

Canción del día #9: Wardruna

En esta ocasión quiero presentaros a un grupo llamado Wardruna. Últimamente se ha dado a conocer porque aparece en la BSO de la serie Vikings, y de hecho es como lo conocí yo.

Wardruna fue fundado por el noruego Einar Selvik y utiliza la mitología nórdica, así como el noruego o nórdico antiguo para crear sus canciones. También se vale de instrumentos antiguos o elementos naturales (como rocas o agua) para ello. Con todo esto se trata de recrear una música antigua y con un toque místico, yo diría que hasta tribal.

Han sacado un par de discos, Runaljod - gap var Ginnunga (2009) y Runaljod - Yggdrasil (2013), y ahora van camino de estrenar su nuevo disco, Runaljod - Ragnarok. Entre los tres conforman la trilogía Runaljod (¡quién lo diría!).

Cada canción lleva el título de una runa de las veintricuatro que componen el futhark antiguo, que viene a ser la forma más antigua del alfabeto rúnico que usaban las tribus germánicas para escribir en protonórdico. Aquí tenéis el link de su web oficial, por si queréis saber algo más.

Es una música primitiva y bastante mística, pero os aseguro de que viene genial para estudiar o escribir, así que he querido compartirla con vosotros.

Canción del día #8: The Smiths

Buenas, grumetillos. Aquí vengo con una nueva canción para la sección de Canción del día (por si no lo habíais adivinado con el título, ja!). En esta ocasión es How soon is now? de The Smiths. Últimamente me ha dado por escuchar a este grupo. Antes había oído hablar de ellos, pero no los había escuchado. Hace poco empecé a leer Eleanor & Park y se habla bastante de The Smith, así que por fin me atreví a buscarlos en Youtube. La verdad es que no me han decepcionado para nada.

The Smiths son un grupo de rock alternativo (la Wikipedia es perfecta para encontrar los géneros musicales. Fijo que si se busca lo suficiente podemos encontrar cloudy metal sinfónico). Lo formaron allá por la década de los 80 en Manchester (Reino Unido) Morrisey, el flamante vocalista; Morrisey, el guitarra; y más tarde se les unirían Andy Rourke y Mike Joyce. Pocos años después, en el 87, la banda se separó para no volverse a juntar.

Canción del día #7: Beecake

Estaba trasteando por Youtube en búsqueda de vídeos de El señor de los anillos y me encontré por casualidad con un vídeo de Billy Boyd (aka Pippin) cantando. Al investigar un poco más he descubierto él, junto a tres amigos suyos, formó en 2006 una banda llamada Beecake. En principio iba a ser un "experimento" para componer y grabar canciones, pero el resultado les gustó y fueron más allá. En 2009 publicaron su primer disco, Soul Swimming, y tuvieron bastante éxito. Tanto, que hicieron giras por Reino Unido y América. Unos años después publicaron su segundo disco, Blue Sky Paradise, en 2012, donde se incluyen los singles de Please Stay y The Clown.

Esta canción pertenece a la BSO de Once, una película musical irlandesa que se estrenó en 2006 y que está basada en hechos reales. Concretamente, está basada en la vida de Glen Hansard y Marketa Irglova, que además son los que la interpretan en la película.

No he visto la película, pero tengo intención de verla muy pronto, tan pronto como la consiga. Me han hablado bien de ella, además de que las críticas que he visto por internet no son malas. Además, me encanta Irlanda y los musicales en general, así que esto hace una mezcla a la que le tengo muchas ganas.

La película se llevó el Oscar a Mejor Canción Original con esta misma canción que os he puesto. ¡Espero que la disfrutéis!

¡Hola, grumetillos!

En esta ocasión vengo a inaugurar una nueva sección (si es que se le puede llamar así) del blog, ¡la canción del día! En esta sección colgaré una canción distinta cada cierto tiempo para ir compartiendo las canciones que vaya descubriendo.
